Entry Access

How do I autopopulate an MS Access form’s field based on the entry of a previous field?
My form asks for an industry-standard description and a “common” name. I would like the common name to automatically fill once the standard description is selected. I have both items available in the same table.
I’ve consulted the online tutorials and my Access book, but all I find are SQL statements or Lookup Wizards — none of which seem to address my dilemma. Please help! I feel like this should be simple and its making me crazy!
There is normally some event, say we have
textbox1
textbox2
as I enter textbox1 I want to auto populate textbox2
textbox1 has an event has onfocus or onenter and in there I would
use
textbox2.text = “mytext” or something to that effect. Can’t recall the syntax since it’s been a long time but most of the RAD languages are very similar.
hope this helps
